THE RETURN OF A GLOBAL MASTERPIECE
The National Theatre’s internationally acclaimed production makes a triumphant return with a brand-new UK and Ireland tour. War Horse is an unforgettable stage experience that carries audiences from the peaceful fields of rural Devon to the harrowing trenches of First World War France.
Adapted from Michael Morpurgo’s beloved novel, this deeply moving and visually stunning drama combines stirring music and powerful storytelling in a production of remarkable creativity. At its heart are the extraordinary, life-sized puppets created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company — magnificent creatures that breathe, gallop, and thunder across the stage with astonishing realism.
As war breaks out in 1914, young Albert’s cherished horse, Joey, is sold to the Cavalry and sent to France. Swept into the chaos of battle, Joey’s journey spans both sides of the conflict until he finds himself trapped in No Man’s Land. Back in Devon, Albert cannot forget his loyal companion. Too young to enlist but driven by devotion, he sets out on a perilous quest to find Joey and bring him home.
The National Theatre’s Partner for Financial Wellbeing, Charles Stanley, proudly supports War Horse on tour.
