Whilst we’re stepping into the festive season, did you know we’re also stepping into engagement season?
Research by Bridebook (2019) shows that over 100,000 engagements happen over the Christmas period – and half of those are predicted to happen between the 21st December and New Year’s Eve.
Those predictions don’t seem set to change either, with its 2023 report showing that Christmas Day is the most popular day to pop the question.
And, with the current average length of engagement at 31 months, whether you’re already flashing the ring, or hopeful for a rock in the near future, it may be an opportune time to start exploring wedding dress options.
Wedding dress trends are showing that unique, colourful, and eye-catching dresses are set to walk the aisle in 2024. From pastels to black, haute-couture inspired bows and maximalism, to 90’s inspired looks, you have the opportunity to showcase your style in a dress unique to you.
So, if you’re looking for something truly made for you, skip your usual bridal shops stocking the well-known designers, and tailor your dress from start to finish.

Norfolk based Tatty’s Original have launched its bespoke dress builder, allowing you to customise your dream dress every step of the way.
Starting with a choice of nine bases, brides-to-be can add their choice of bodice, skirt, and sleeves, including embellishments. Once submitted, you’ll work with Tatty’s Original experienced wedding dress designer, Tiffany Crosson Smith, to pick the perfect fabric and details.
What’s more, for those looking to stick within a budget, the dress builder gives you a price estimate with each selection you make.
“I designed and made my own wedding dress, along with my four bridesmaid’s dresses, my mum’s dress, and a going-away dress, so I have first hand experience of how important it is to find the perfect wedding dress that’s truly made for you,” said business owner Tiffany.
Whilst Tatty’s Original online dress builder is newly launched, taking advantage of 2023’s technology, Tiffany started making dresses when she was just 16.
Following studying costume design at university, Tiffany designed her first bespoke wedding dress for her sister, with a further seven dresses for the bridal party.
“Off of the success of my sister’s dresses, I launched Tatty’s Original in 2018 and have been growing the business ever since. The online dress builder takes the business to the next level, giving even more design autonomy to future brides,” shared Tiffany.
If you visit one of Tiffany’s Norfolk based studios, you’ll likely meet Tiffany’s assistant – her 10 month old daughter Ophelia.
“Being a business owner, I have the luxury of making my own rules, and I love that Ophelia can join me at work,” added Tiffany, “I love that she’ll grow up seeing me doing something I’m passionate about, and how hard I work. I hope I’ll inspire to follow her own passions in life, whatever that looks like for her”.
As well as Tatty’s Original online dress builder, Tiffany is also happy to work with brides on designs completely from scratch, allowing complete design freedom.
“I work with all my brides closely to create their perfect gown, in what is a personalised dressmaking experience,” said Tiffany, “the beauty is that brides get to see their dream dress come to life every step of the way”.
